Validity of poa

My father is old and cannot travel. Can he sign a POA, on stamp paper and notarized in one city, authorizing me to represent him on a civil court case regarding ancestral property inheritance in a different city, different state? How long will this POA notarized on a stamp paper be valid for? In general, how long do notarized stamp paper documents hold validity for?

Where the registrar's office is situated the notary attestation is not valid.

Notarized Power of Attorney for court cases are valid until and unless it is cancelled by principal. It is also immaterial that it has been executed in another city and case is pending in  another city.
