Associate member in a housing society

My father was an associate member of the housing society where my mother is the owner of the flat. My father has passed away; is it necessary to remove his name from the share certificate? If so, what is the procedure? Is it simply striking off the name on the share certificate or a resolution needs to be passed by the Managing committee to that effect.

Kindly advise.

Kindly look into the bylaws of the society, accordingly follow the rules.

You can formally intimate the association about the death of your father by enclosing the death certificate and request for removal of his name from the share certificate, this application should be signed by your mother who is the primary member.

You can enquire about any other formalities to be complied as per the bylaws in this regard from the management committee members.

Your mother is the owner of the flat, she can request the association to remove your father's name from the share certificate while enclosing the death certificate copy and add the name of your family.

Your mother should apply to the society enclosing the share certificate and the death certicate. The Secretary of the society shall place the documents before the Managing Committe meeting which shall pass resolution. Thereafter the Secretary shall make the necessary changes in Share Register and the Share certificate under the signature of the Chairman. The share certificate shall be returned to your mother.
