Fir

A Complaint to Police was made to treat the Complaint as FIR against a person.  The Police during investigation recorded statements of both parties.  However, more than 3 months have elapsed but there is silence from Police side.

In how much time police is bound to inform the Complaintant about the fate of his complaint.?

If the police show reluctance in the immediate firing of an FIR (elapse of 3 months clearly indicates their unwillingness,) the aggrieved party can file an application to the superintendent of the police u/s 154(3) of CrPC who will then order the investigation into the offense. If that doesn't yield results either, one can move to the magistrate under section 156(3) who will both order the immediate registration of the FIR and investigation into the offense.
