Lost Property Policy

We have provided certain business tools to our employees like: Laptops, Cellphones and ID cards. At times employees lose this property and the company has to reimburse it. We wish to deduct this cost of replacement from the employee's salary.

Is this allowed under law. Could you please inform me the rules pertaining to this.

If some equipment is entrusted to any employee, he is responsible for it and should replace it if it is lost. You can make this point clear in the equipment issue letter itself when the employee is issued any equipment
