I have been working as a third party contracter for technical jobs, mainly with computers. I went to a firm to install a new server. I left the premises after the server was installed and tested.
Now the contact at the site is accusing me of stealing a laptop from the server room and threthening to lodge an FIR against me. They are also asking me to pay for the laptop. Also they have stopped my payment for the job.
I think it is either of two reasons for this
a. they have misplaced the laptop and now they want a escapegoat for hiding their mistake
b. They don't want to pay my charges.
What are my options in this case. This is an incident of Nehru Place, New Delhi and I stay at Sarojini Nagar.
I have co-operated with company and provided them with my address and offc address. my main concern is that it would be really bad for family image if the police comes to my place and search the laptop. will that happen or the police will call me to station for questioning ? I am ready for any questionoiing or fingerpronting etc.
