No show clause in offer letter

Hi,  I recently got one offer letter from indian Consultancy firm, it is having one clause  of "no show " which states that  if i dont join with them on joining date i need to pay one month salary.

"Failure to report at that specified office on particular date shall be deemed as "No show ". in such an event  the offer stands cancelled and you shall be liable one month salary as penalty  to the company for the loss suffered by the company"

i singned on the offerletter , if i didn't join with particular consultancy how  it will effect? or what is the way i can cancell this offer ? is there any chance consultancy suite on me legally?

The clause is void being against public policy and could never be enforced.

I concur with Mr. Venu.

Was such clause revealed on record in job advt, interview call letter, during interview etc?

Were you paid for attending the interview?

Is there anything that renders this establishment unworthy of being employed with.

Next time before siging on the dotted line, consult.
