We live in PAGDI system in Mumbai.
After death of my father, me and my mother requested the landlord to transfer the property in our Joint names.
After this the landlord doubled our rent ie Rs 1000 from initial 500. The property rent part was added twice ie
500 +500 + 700(water and electricity charges)
My question is
1. Was the rent doubled as we applied for having the property in two names? if yes is this legal
