Software piracy in companies

Can somebody please advice on whether how a software company can file compliants or hold accountable any other company who they think are using fake softwares?

under what act is this governed and what are the punishments for these?

pls suggest.

thanks for comments, though you took it differently.

let take an example, ADOBE has developed a software and COMPANY A uses it to without paying official fees, something like pirated copy. now what can ADOBE do to COMPANY A? I mean how will the proceedings go and likewise and what are the conseuquences...

is there a way out for COMPANY A.

Thanks for the info. could you please also elaborate on the exact punsihments if the case is started off in Civil or Criminal Court. I am just wanting to know as am hearing a number of cases wherein Microsoft and Abode are sending in notices to customers for these.
