I lost my dad in a accident case 6 years back. We filed a case with third party insurance and quoted for 5 lakh. 5 lakh was divided into 6 cheques(mom, me, bro, 2 sisters and grandma). We got 5 cheques so far. Grandma has passed away last year, due to which we are not able to get that cheque.
The lawyer took the fee (1.7 Lakh) well before the case is completed. And now he is not helping us to get that 6th cheque. I came to know that we can apply for a succession certificate to get that money(85000 rs.). But how much i need to spend for getting this succession certificate? Can i approach some other lawyer to get back this money as this lawyer is too harsh on us and not helping us. Please suggest.
