the present law of india is exactly what i said. in this regard.

Clause (iii) of Section 10 of the Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act, 1956 prohibits adoption of a married person.

regarding this -- In Maharastra, the Santhals can adopt a son along with his wife.

Go with the exact things and not what is written in Books.

Law is what is written in the law books(whether it be statute books of judgments). You and me cannot interpret is otherwise.

The query was not limited to Santhals of Maharashtra but was a general query to which general law applies and not any exception (However, I could not trace any legal provision permitting santhals of Maharashtra to be adopted along with wife).
