Apartment common area being sold

Hi All

I reside in an Apartment with around 97 flats. The standing committee has decided to sell the common area for 2 flat owners for parking space. As per my knowledge the common area in an apartment is an undivided property of all the flat owners and cannot be modified or sold unless with the consent of all the flat owner. Nor the committee has any rights to modify or sell the common area.

Can someone please help me clarify and let me know if my understanding is correct.

Thank you

Regards

Rajendra

The common areas of a building or building  complex cannot be sold to anyone even with the approval of the general body. They can be allotted  to individuals on payment of fees specifically for car or light vehicle parking provided the individual has a vehicle to park. Such allotments are not transferrable. Where is the building?
