Are we liable to pay rent in case of no rental agreement?

Hi,

I have no written agreement with my landlord. Now he has asked me to vacate in a weeks time. If I vacate, am I required to pay him the current month's rent, in the case that I don't have any written rental agreement with him? If I don't, then can he sue?

You can vacate at the end of the month,to sue is not so easy process if he starts just now it will take weeks.secondly suing for possession may take adverse effect.so don't worry live unto month end.

Actually, I have already booked another place and already paid one month's rent there and will move there very shortly. I have not paid the current month's rent in my current(old) place. So what I want to know is do I have to pay the landlord my current month's rent if I am shifting in the middle of the month due to his asking me to move out?
