Difference between housing co-op. society & welfare society

Dear Sir,

I am living in the Chawl (Pagadi Systems) at Nallasopara (E). There are total 35 members in the chawl.

Now, we are planning to make a society and about registration. When we talk to the Advocate, he said that it will take Rs.5000/- per member i.e. Rs.175000/- for registration of Co-operative society & Rs.800/- per member for registration of  Welfare Society. I want to know that What is diference between Co-Operative HSG Soc. and Welfare Soc.? Which one is better? Please help me to take right decision about registration .

Thanking you,

Waiting for reply to come.

Co-operative housing societies are formed for construction of houses for its members. The resident’s welfare society is formed for the maintenance of houses, park, community centre etc. for the members.

The O/o registrar of societies may be contacted.
