Disputed grandmother property -self acquired or joint fly pr

My grandmother had a land in her name in 1984...she expired in 1993......The property is under dispute as several legal heirs are claiming....

The main issue is whther the property is Self-acquired or ancestral or is it purchased from the family funds....There is no proof to substantiate this????

How can any person state that its her self-acquired property?? She had never worked in her lifetime...The payment for purchase of land was given in cash.....Each legal heir is stating that he/she have contributed to her the funds for purchase of property, nobody has any proof.................

In such a scenario does, this property  become an ancestrol proeprty or a joint family property....
How can this be proved that this is not her self-acquired property so that all legal heirs (including grandchildren) can claim their rights also...
