Extra Judicial Confession

An extra judicial confession is that which is made by the party elsewhere than before a magistrate or in a court. It is admissible in evidence under section 21 of the Indian Evidence Act and is proved by the witnesses who heard the speaker's words constistuting the confession. It may properly be made to any person or collection or body of persons. It should not be acted upon unless it is proved by evidence of a most reliable character.
