is it required for retired person to continue to file taxes and who been living on pension /receving interest from deposits ..all the residual income are less than the annual income tax slab. the person had received reminder notice from income tax to file is it safe to ignore the tax filing if annual income is below slab.

Without knowing what is your annual amount of pension, amount of interest received by you on fixed deposits; and the amount of other residual incomes (and the nature of such income); the savings being done by you under Sec. 80C etc., it is not possible to give any answer to your query, merely on the basis of your statement that the annual income is below slab.
