I accepted an offer and later rejected it.

Hi,

I had accepted an offer later rejected it as they were pressurizing me to join early which is not possible as i am still serving my notice period. The company told me to manage both jobs simultaneously which is dual employment and i have rejected it.

There is no Breach of Contract clause in the offer letter and now they are telling that they will take legal action.

Please guide how shall i take it ahead.

Regards,

Ashwin

Hi,

As soon as an acceptance was made, a contract was formed. If you refuse the offer now, the company may sue you for breach of contract. However, you may plead your case by explaining your position as they have also breached the terms of the contract by forcing you to join before the date agreed upon.

Also, those, who accept a job offer but don’t join, may have to pay a penalty if the employers have included a penalty clause in their offer letter. It places an obligation upon the party who has breached the contract to provide compensation to the aggrieved party affected by the breach.

I hope this answers your question.

Have a good day!
