Hello.
An elderly relative of mine recently purchased a car.
He was provided a proforma invoice (which had signature and stamp) in the last week of Dec 2021 and based on it he made full payment in cheque on 14th January 2022. This cheque amount got credited on 17th Jan and on 18th Jan a salesperson called to inform that as prices have increased on 15th January so he has to pay the excess. He was doubtful, but handed over a cheque bearing the required excess amount to them.
Was it legal on behalf of the dealer? Payment was made in full, due receipt was provided and later, can such a demand be made?
If it wasn't proper, what can he (relative) do now? Is there any rule/law that clearly guides in such situation?
Thanks in advance.
Note - the car has not been delivered yet as there are RTO and other formalities to be completed, as per the dealer
