For detail discussions on the issues please refer to the case of Ajay Goswami Vs Union of India and Others, decided by the Supreme Court in December 2005, in writ Petition (Civil) No.384 of 2005.

Another classic case on the subject is the case of  Fatima Riswana vs State Rep.by A.C.P. Chennai and others as reported in 2005(001) SCALE -- 0161-SC.

Dear friends Giving citation is a very much helpful manner of assisting lawyers. But will you pl keep in mind in giving citations in AIR, Cr.L.J, SCC in SC cases so that we also can just go through the full text immediatly

Sorrry Sureshji, and you can guess that. But if you ask me I can give you the citation as you want.

Every victim of the offence committed in contravention of the Indecent Representation Of the Women Act can file a private complaint under section 200 Cr.P.C

Yes, Rajamohamedji, youre right, but at the same time it is also important to note what was the indecent and in what manner indecent representation was made is relevant.

Who is the victim here.  Whether the woman whose photograph is published indecently alone is the victim or every reader or viewer of the book.  Whether viewer/reader of the book can lodge the prosecution?
