Invalid rent agreement

Hi,

The owner of the house died in 1998 and left a will on his wife, daughter and son's names. When i rented the house in 2001, they made the rent agreement but they pre-dated it to 1995.

Since the have made the rent agreement and signed it to a 1995 date, technically the agreement is null and void as they do not have the authority to sign the agreement when the owner of the house was supposedly alive.

So I want to know, what does that make me if the rent agreement is considered null and void in court?

Regards

Aldrich

Irrespective of the rental agreement dated in 2001 or earlier... it cannot be perpetual.  Rental agreements are usually time defined.  Usual practice is, before expiry of the time the agreement will be extended by the both the parties by way of endorsements.  In your case see the time limit until which the agreement is valid.  After the date of its valididty it bears no legal binding.
