Is khasra khatauni required for selling a residential plot?

How is that the Registrar's Office is concerned with Khasra and Khatauni?

Thanks for your reply sir, and i don't have any intention to cheat too. I just wanted to know that do the person who writes registry or registrar asks for khasra kahtauni as mandatory documents to sell property or not. If not necessarily then i might save some time and money by not updating those records until unless if there is no major legal implications by doing so.
