LAND CEILING

Dear Chandrakanth,

Basically, in the old days the jamindars or landlords used to keep thousands of acres of land within their hold. which indirectly causes depreciation in the agricultural produce and also of poverty in the state. Hence, the Government of India to introduced Agricultural land ceiling Act and Urban Land Ceiling and for every major individual/family will have one unit if it exceeds, then it is treated as Government Land. I am Andhra Pradesh. I am not much aware of Tamilnadu Land Ceiling Act.

Thanks for your information.  But releasing of land from this act may be same in all states.  Could you please explain further.

You have not mentioned me whether the subject land is under agricultural land ceiling or urban land ceiling.

if it is under agricultural land ceiling then it will be difficult task to get back the land under any provisions.

but if it under Urban land ceiling,  then there might be some chances to get back the land.

Every State has adopted its own policy for Urban Land ceiling and the same is not now repealed recentlly in Andhra Pradesh. Hence, it is better to approach a local lawyer who is well versed with ceiling matters.
