Hi,
We have an ancestral property house in Mangalore which is on a land leased to us by a temple. Now that my uncles and aunt and their children live in different cities we visit the place once in 2 to 3 months. Otherwise the house is locked. We pay a rent of Rs. 75 annually to the temple as Chaalgeni from more than 10 decades. As the land value is appreciated considerably the Temple committee are having plans to send us an eviction notice. They have also taken some part of the land and constructed some seating place for devotees who visit the temple. For this they had sent us a letter for which they have not taken any written approval from us. I would like to know what would happen if we challenge them in court? Please suggest.
Please educate me on the rules of a Chaalageni land.
Thanks and regards,
Pavithran
