Maternity leave for students

Hello Sir,

Can you please let us know that is there any provision for maternity leave for students using Right to Education in any stream of education in India (Special case Meerut University CCSUniversity). We are facing issue that there is no benifit in attedance counting for maternity leave for students (B. Ed) and as such we have not communicated any thing before taking admission, no intimation, no ruling about this from university or college (We studied in Govt. College) and when the exam started they detained us due to short leave as we have applied for maternity leaves to the college and university.

Please suggest is there no ruling for maternity leave for students in RTE and if it not there where is ruling is defined for that.

On behalf of Students

Regards,

Bunty

there is no specific provision.

university can treat it at par withh medical absence, if they so desire.

one can enforce right to education through court.

It is a very sensitive issue and in my opinion there must be a provision for the same. However, in our country, s*xual relationships, especially out of wedlock are yet frowned upon, which in my opinion shouldn't be the case! As after attaining majority a girl may get pregnant whenever she wishes to, whether or not in a wedlock and hence there shall be maternity benefit provisions for women students as well. All other state governments and centre government shall take some inspiration from Haryana government and bring maternity benefit legislation for students as well.
