Provident fund document querry

Dear All,

Is there is any time frame prescribed for keeping records of PF by the company under The Employees' Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act,1952 ?

If any such provision is there then for how many years such records can be kept?

Regards,

Sangram Joshi

Law stipulates that ermployer must keep PF records for atleast 10 years as in case of Income Tax.  After expiry of 10 years, there is no need to keep such records and company can destory it at its own discretion. In fact authorities do not ask for records more than 5 years older if company has been filing  PF returns and depositng PF accumulations regularly and does not leave any correspondence from the PF authorities unattended.

U/s 7a of the Employees and Provident Act, you are required to file your return copy in the office of the EPFO.

Thanking you.
