Stamp and Registration

A document was impounded due to insufficient stamp duty. Thereafter the party requested for return of the document stating that he does not want to get it registered and stamped. Can the registering authority return it as prayed by the party ?

I dont think so. Because document is stamped and executed, If its executed you are liable to pay full stamp duty and if you didnot registrar can impound and sent it for assessment of duty to Collector. You can try to convince the authority that there was some mistake at the time of execution and so the contract is void  and as it is properly stamped please return the document.
