Tenant Problem.

Hello,
My name is Ruchi, I'm from Nagpur.
I live with my parents in rented 3-room block(part of bunglow).
We are staying here from last 2 years, good relations with house owner(who lives in Banglore).
So far we had clear transactions related to house rent, electricity and water bills.
Recently our house owner has given adjoining 1-room(Bunglow has total 4 rooms) to new tenant.
This tenant owns a laundry shop and he is relative of house owner.
Our monthly eletrcity bill used to be around 1000-1200.
Last month the bill was Rs 6000, surely this tenant is responsible for this bill.
Yes we have common meter.
He refused to pay 5000 against elctricity bill and he is even not ready to pay even half the bill.
He said at most he will pay 25% of the total bill.
Last month we paid the total bill af around 6000, this month also we have received the bill with almost same amount.
If we don't pay the bill MSEB will cut the power.
We talked to the house owner but so far no effect.
House owner lives with his son in Banglore and rarely comes to Nagpur.
Desperately looking for solution to get rid of this new tenant and his bills.

1. I was thinking of applying for separate meter, can I do that in absense of house owner?
2. How can we force new tenant to pay this bills?

Thanks in advance,
Ruchi

Not a single reply... looks like there is no solution.

you should take a seperate meter with the concent of the owner.  even if you send the expence for the seperate meter and connection that will be better.  provided the landlord will allow you to continue in the premises for a consideratble period and you want to stay there.
