Transfer of vehicle without owner's knowledge

One of my friends, who is working in Bangalore and hailing from Kerala, is facing an issue. He has a car in his name at his home in Kerala. His car has been used by his brother for both his own and family purposes. My friend visits Kerala once a year. Whenever he visits his hometown, he sees his car at home. Since he uses his Bangalore registered car to go to his hometown, he rarely uses his car that is in his hometown.

Now he found out that the car was transferred to another person in 2019. This person is a friend of his brother's friend. It seems that his brother sold or transferred his car to his brother's friend by committing forgery. The brother's friend is also likely involved in this, as the car has been at his home when my friend visited. What can be done in this case?

File a case against him or amicably decide the matter as he is his own brother.

Let your friend ascertain the facts of selling the car and after that he can get into legal action against both his brother and the other person.

Why should he leave the car idle for years, since he is not showing interest in that car, the others are taking advantage  hene this is the result.

I feel the other person can escape by saying his brother sold car to him. What can be the best way to teach lesson for both these people? A generic complaint may not help. Any smart ways to track both these frauds?

Admittedly, as per the records, your friend(?) is the owner of the vehicle and is liable if something adverse happens.  As such, his  priority ought to be in solving the issue than teaching lessons to strangers.

As mentioned before the ownership was transferred to another person by some fraudulent ways.

Your friend can make a police complaint and take actions against his brother and the person who purchased the car. The sale can be cancelled and the car restored to your friend. It is up to your friend if he wants to do anything else.
