Validity of marriage and other concerns

My wife and I are both Hindu and had a Gurudwara marriage but did not register it in court. Is this a valid marriage? If so, under which act does it come?

My second question: My wife has started living separately alone because of her job, which is against my will. I am worried that if she is involved in adultery and becomes pregnant, the court will assume the child is mine. Is this true?

If your marriage was solemnised by observing all the rituals properly then it is considered as legally valid marriage.

If you suspect the integrity of your wife and paternity of your child then you can file a petition seeking DNA test to confirm paternity of your child.

We did not take seven steps around the sacred fire (Saptapadi) as it was Anand karaj

Non Registartion of a marriage does not make the marriage invalid. However some states have made Registartion of marriages mandatory.

As far as not performing saptapadi is concerned, if it can be established that as per your religious  customs  it is not essential, the non performance of Saptapadi will not affect the validity of the marriage.

As far as the  applicable Act is concerned, since both of you are Hindus it is Hindu Marriage Act which applies to you.

But we both are hindu and in my family we follow all our religious customs. Howerever before marriage I did not know that seven steps around the sacred fire is must as per hindu marriage act.
