On 24th April 2012, Sheena Bora took a ‘leave of absence’ and resignation as well as a text ending a relationship with her then Boyfriend. Upon looking into the case, the Police found nothing which was doubtful and the mother of the deceased as well as the accused stated that she had left the country for higher studies and is not missing. In 2015, after 3 years of the occurrence of the incident, the driver of Indrani was caught in possession of illegal weapons. During the investigation he revealed the details of the murder of Sheena Bora and turned into an approver.

Post this, an investigation was launched into the murder of Sheena Bora based on the allegations by Rai, the driver. The alleged story was that on 24th April, the mother and daughter met in a hotel in Worli with Mr. Sanjeev Khanna. It is alleged that Khanna, strangled the deceased in a by-lane in Bandra and the body was stuffed into the trunk of the car. Post this, the car was set ablaze in an isolated spot away from the city.

Allegations and Contentions

The CBI cited Financial Disputes as well as disagreements based on the engagement between Rahul Mukerjea and Sheena Bora (Step siblings) was cited as one of the biggest motives for the murder of Sheena Bora by her mother, stepfathers. It was further linked that due to the property issues that would arise once the marriage was finalised, the parents of one Viddhie, who is Indrani’s daughter with Sanjeev Khaana, the parents of the child decided to kill Sheena Bora.

It was also contested by the Additional Solicitor General that Peter was in continuous conversation with Indrani during the entire murder of Sheena Bora and was hence apprehended in this regard as he would benefit from the death of Sheena bora, the fiancé of his son, Rahul. Another allegation that was bought forward was that of Indrani giving Sheena sedatives that are otherwise meant for mental illness.
