#INDIATOGETHER VS #RIHANNA- THE PARODY MADE OUT OF THE FARMER'S PROTEST

One tweet- five words- by the fourth most followed individual on twitter, and it has been a wildfire of cusses, comedy and climacteric catastrophe since then. When Rihanna tweeted about the ongoing farmers protest by voicing her concerns about the issue, as to why aren't we talking about it, not only the Indian media and international celebs were quick to respond to it, but so were the Indian stars and more chiefly, the Indian government.

This thread subsequently turned into a raging twitter war, with a multitude of individuals voicing their opinions, calling each other names, shaming each other, and fingers being pointed at each other.

International concern over this event was labelled as 'foreign force' and 'foreign intrusion' was countered by hashtags like #IndiaAgainstPropoganda and #IndiaUnited; but where does the denigrated situation of farmers is undergoing change?

GLOBAL CELEBRITIES v. INDIAN POLITICAL SYSTEM

Following into the footsteps of Rihanna, Greta Thunberg, the child activist tweeted questioning the moves of the Indian Government in lieu with the ongoing protests in the NCR and affirmed that international unions stand in support with the farmers.

Celebrities like youtuber turned talk show fame, Lilly Singh and other individuals like Amanda Cerni, Meena Harris and VaneesaNakate voiced their concerns supporting the farmers.

In reply, Home Minister, Amit Shah expressed concern and said India stands united and together to achieve progress. “Propaganda cannot decide India's fate only 'Progress' can. India stands united and together to achieve progress,” Shah tweeted.

The ministry also issued a notice stating the reasons and justifying as to why the government took such extreme steps, and pointing out that 'external forces' should not intervene into the matters of the state.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said, "Fearing India's growing power, international forces are conspiring to weaken our country and the country's democracy."

They were joined by several of their counterparts, including Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan, Nirmala Sitharaman, Hardeep Singh Puri, V K Singh and Ramesh Pokhriyal.

"#BollywoodAgainstPropoganda”- STARS JOIN IN

The ministers also found support in Bollywood with celebrities Akshay Kumar, KangnaRanaut and Ajay Devgan and filmmaker Karan Johar among those who recommended people to be cautious of blatant stories.

Kumar was among the first to post the MEA comment, stating that the government's attempts to address the problem are "evident." "The farmers are an incredibly important part of our country. And the attempts being made to address their difficulties are apparent. Let's endorse an amicable settlement, rather than pay heed to someone who causes discrepancies.   #IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda," tweeted Kumar.

THE CONTROVERSIAL DELHI POLICE FIR

The Delhi Police lodged an FIR against the makers of the toolkit, which was posted by Swedish environment activist Greta Thunberg on Thursday's continuing farmers' protest in the outskirts of Delhi. The FIR has been lodged according to sections 120-B and 153-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Preliminary enquiry has revealed that the toolkit in question appears to have been created by a pro-Khalistani organisation Poetic Justice Foundation. A section of the documents titled "prior action" delineates the following action plan," stated Praveer Ranjan, Special Commissioner of Police (CP), Delhi Police.

STATE SOVEREIGNTY AT STAKE?

After speculations being raised on the crony capitalist culture of the Indian democracy, the question of efforts to dismantle the state sovereignty were raised by the individuals, wherein the actions of foreign forces were causing uproar in the country.

State sovereignty means the non interference of foreign forces in the working of the state, in order to facilitate the governmental policies in an efficient and provincial manner.

THE FARMER'S PROTEST- A GIST

The 2020 agitation of Indian farmers is an ongoing movement over the three farm acts adopted by the Parliament of India in September 2020. Acts have been described as "anti-farmer laws" by many farmers' unions, and opposition lawmakers often say that they would leave farmers at the hands of conglomerates.

IS THIS MOVEMENT GARNERING THE CORRECT SPOTLIGHT? WHAT IS YOUR OPINION? LET US KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW!
