Golden Rules for Spoken English - Part 2

1.When to build your vocabulary: First focus on speaking and listening English; once you are comfortable in speaking and understanding, then start building advance vocabulary.

2.Importance of grammar: Keep in mind you can speak English even if you have little knowledge of grammar. Do you remember your childhood you started speaking Hindi or mother tongue without going to school and without learning any grammar. And moreover there are thousands of people who never attended any school and can speak their mother tongue or any other language comfortably.

3.Don’t blame your atmosphere: If you do not want to do something, it is always easy to blame your atmosphere. You can always create your own atmosphere. For example if you say I have do not have any friend to speak English; you can always practice before mirror without any friend. Another example could be you say that at my home no one speaks English, so watch TV to listen to people who speak English.

4.Using dictionary with verbal pronunciation: When you start speaking English you always fear if you mispronounce a word. Best way to overcome this listens to the people who speak English and buy a dictionary with CD for pronunciation, so that you can understand and copy correct pronunciation.

5.Watch people for their style: You always want to have best style of speaking. You cannot develop you own best style unless you have seen many people who speak good English. So best way to develop good speaking style is to watch and listen to people who speak good English.

6.Practice before mirror: When you practice speaking English with your friend, you cannot watch your confidence and facial expression. But when you practice before mirror you can always watch your confidence and other expression and change them if you want to change them. Practicing before mirror will improve your spoken English in a fast mode.

7.Practice different tone of voice: To develop confidence in speaking it is a best practice to speak a single sentence in different tone of voice. You will feel comfortable in speaking if you practice speaking in different tones.

8.Record yourself: For better results audiotape or videotape yourself. Watch what you really like in your speaking style and make it stronger; and if you find you need to improve something in your speaking work on that also.

9.Speak without fear: Last but not least you can’t make a good impression with a shaking voice, so always make sure you speak with power and confidence. Just watch a movie again, if you like an  actor or actress, you always like her power and energy in voice, so develop yourvoice full of power and energy.
