  • gurmeet says : seeking advice in cruelty and dowry case
My sister got married last year in the month of April. After few days of marriage her Father-in-Law started abusing her for not bringing enough dowry.Several times he tried to beat her in the absence of her husband. My sister's father-in law is a habitual drunkard and earlier he killed his wife also. He threatened my sister and her husband that he will not give them any right in his ancestral property and asked them to leave his house otherwise he will kill both of them. Several times my parents and other relatives tried to talk to him and compromise the matter to save the wedlock of my sister, but nothing could happen. Now yesterday, he(father-in-law) again tried to kill my sister by beating her and when my parents reached their place to save her,he (father-in-law) attacked them also. My parents approached the police to help them and to register an FIR but till now police has not taken any action even not registering a complaint. My sister has been thrown out of her in-laws house alongwith her husband, now they have not their own place to live and even they are not safe. Please advice me that what we can do in this situation and what are the rights of my brother-in-law against her father.

  • Member (Account Deleted) says : husband ran away from home threatening for divorce
Hi, I got married to my husband through Special marriage act by Oct 2015 but my husband and in-laws didnt allow me to stay with him. My husband used to come to my flat occassionally and just have physical relation but even if i fall ill he wont take me to hospital stating that our marriage is not formal and society doesnt know so he cant stay with me or take care of me or allow me to stay with him. So my parents asked his parents to get us married formally but they accepted only after accepting to book five star hotels for their relatives and also I should take care of setting up the house with washing machine, sofa, tv , mixer grinder etc., I only paid security deposit for the house. We got formally married by Dec 2015 and he was ok with for 1.5 months but then for small issues he started hitting me. He even forced my head against the wall. I have medical report with the medicines specified but the doctor refused to comment on the injury. After that he started staying out of home for every weekend and come home late at night every weekday. If I ask him about his whereabouts or where he went for so many days, he used to tell I stayed at my office quarters. Then I asked him the next time he stayed out of home, he said he is not liable to answer my questions and I have no rights to question him as he is anb individual and he can go out and stay outside the house anytime. The owner is asking us to sign the rental agreement so many times. I made the rental agreement, I paid the security deposit but he is not even willing to sign the rental agreement or take care of any household needs. He went to his hometown last week without telling me and stayed there for one week and I came to know only after my parents went to his home and talked to his parents. I booked for Family councelling center at Bangalore commissioner of police and he started creating a problem saying that I have given police complaint against him and he will file mental cruelty on me and divorce me. One fine day, when I was not at home, he came and packed many things and left the home. The house owner saw him taking some luggage and going out. All his things, my anklets, a finger ring of mine is missing. His number is switched off and his parents are not attending the calls too. Can i go to his office and enquire or will he say that as cruelty and divorce me?
