  • Raksha says : Property Squatter Issue
I have a piece of land purchased 20 years ago in Bangalore and I recently received a summons from the court when I was not home which was not accepted. This person is claiming ownership of land. I have all the original papers including latest encumberance and tax records. If I don't show up in court can the land be taken away by the court decree? I am currently traveling and cannot be in Bangalore to attend to it. Do I have to file a counter suit to protect my land. It appears some gundas are trying to force us to sell or settle with them for a very small price. Is the recourse just to settle with them or can I fight to retain my land? Can I file an appeal later even after judgement is on their side because of no contest? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Raksha eshob@yahoo.com
