1. The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday quashed the proceedings, including the summons issued, in a complaint against Infosys chief mentor N R Narayana Murthy for alleged violation of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act 1971 during a programme held on April 8 at the Infosys Mysore campus.

2. Merely being first degree relation is not enough for eligibility in NRI category, a division bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court held today, while issuing show-cause notices to some Panjab University students. The HC has asked the students as to why their admissions, if found illegally procured under the NRI category, should not be cancelled.

3. The proposed decision of the Andhra Pradesh Government to release 1,500 convicted prisoners on Independence Day is facing judicial scrutiny. The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to post the petition challenging the decision for hearing on August 16.
