498a

Hi All, What is 498A is made for? Please explain me what are the consequences one can face when 498A is filed against him. What are the things takes into consideration when filing FIR(498A). Will the Police need to investigate the accused? or one can file 498A directly without any investigation on the accused. Please reply with your valuable comments.

hello Ankitha,

A 498A is a case supposed to proteect women from dowry harrasment etc etc, but its being quitely misused, so recently supreme court also directed all the police stations not to make any kind of arrests unless proven, the 498A was very powerfull tool if evidence is available, but at the same time if 498A case filed against person is proved to be false case then, Divorce will be very easy for husband . so its like a SNAKE, which will bite the opponent, but if misfired can come back and kill you.

Hope experts agree on this.
