498a - copy of complaint and fir

How many days does it take for police to provide a copy of FIR (498A) + Complaint by girl + Other documents under RTI? Also what is the procedure (i.e. application format, and to whom do we need to send this application) for getting documents under RTI? Please note that FIR has been launched.

30 days from the date of receipt of application.  During the investigation stage, the authority may decline to give these documents as per the provisions of RTI Act.

It looks like both advocates have different views. I think Ashish is correct and it is the right of a citizen to get the documents under RTI - I am not asking about any investigation details. Simply the copy of FIR + complaint submitted by the girl. that it it. BTW 30 days is like hell.. Can I get this in 2-3 days? By bribing police? Or some other means?

Yes, you can get it in 2 days but your RTI application should mention that it pertains to life and liberty.

Please read RTI Act and also visit rtiindia.org.

No need to bribe anyone, come out of that mentality.

Yes, U can get it early with the help of gandhi ji.

Cops do not give complaint copy so easily in RTI if investigation is pending. They usually cite Sec8 of RTI. Then u have to go in appeal..........................quite lenghty process!
