Adverse possession

What is the fate of adverse possession if the owner dies during the period of adverse possession .

It would depend on the status of the adverse possession, what is under adverse possession etc. There was a canteen in an establishment operated by a contractor. When the contract period was about to be over, the contractor secretly went to court, alleged that he was being illegally evicted and got a stay on his eviction. The management initiated action to vacate the stay. The case is going on for 35 years. The original contractor died and his successor is running the business. An adverse possession is a rightful possession until and unless a court decides otherwise. Often an adverse possession becomes rightful possession one the period of limitation expires.
