Advice on buying property (gpa/power of attorney)

Hello Experts

I am a NRI and bought a property in india, basically my uncle bought the property for me and since I am living abroad could not go to india for registration. So the property is registered to my uncle.

But my concern is that things can go in any direction, so I decided that I need to have the control of the property and not my uncle.

So apart from re-registering it on my name, is there any thing else I can do ? Some people have suggested getting myself a GPA/Power of attorney for the property, I am not sure what they are and if they are of any use in this case

Looking for your advice

Thanks

DEAR RESIDENT USA

1.YOU HAVE NOT MENTIONED WHAT SORT OF PROPERTY YOU PURCHASED IN THE NAME OF YOUR UNCLE.

2.WHAT SORT OF DOCUMENT EXECUTED IN YOUR UNCLE'S FAVOUR,

3.GPA IS NOT A TITLE DEED IN THE EYE OF LAW.

Thanks for your response.

1. property is a land.

2. It was a regular registration, my uncle as the sole-owner.

I can understand that, i will have the sole pocession of the property only by re-registering on my name. What I would like to know is, Is there any thing that can be done, so that I can have some authority on the property.

I don't want my uncle to sell the property with out my knowing and as you know re-registartion could be expensive. As of now my uncle is co-operating and can do what ever we want him to do with respect to this.

again thanks for trying to help me on this issue.
