Ancestral property

We are two sisters and I am elder and married for the last 20 years. My younger sister who is a professional and is working in a good position isn't married. My question is that my grandfather ( fathers father ) built the house and now after his death the house is in my father's name.I want to know whether I can claim the property or get a share in the property. I am an NRI . I have 2 sons studying university and school respectively. My younger sister owns her own house .

Can you please advise .

Sunil ji, as the property is ancestral, both you and your sister have equal share in it. You can file a patition suit and claim your share, or else, you can even settle the matter amicably talking to your family members.
