Hi,
I have a query regarding the appearance fee being charged to me by my lawyer. My case was a co. case - a pvt. ltd. co filed a case against my pvt. ltd. co.
The amount of the claim was approx Rs. 10 Lakhs. On examining the matter, my lawyer recommended we file a counter claim and fight the case the other party had filed. He charged me Rs. 70K as a signing fee and additionally, 6K per appearance. I have not been required to be present personally since this is a civil matter.
My queries are:
1. Did I overpay? He is supposed to be an average lawyer & the case is in District court, Delhi.
2. If his junior appears on a hearing instead of him, am I still required to pay the same amount as appearance fee?
Please advise as I don't know if I'm being overcharged.
