Many times in the interest of justice , client advocates have to take adjournments but the same is also used to defeat the very purpose of law, is called art of pleading (some time).

sir taking adjournment  is also art of pleading because you has to convince the presiding office to that

effect, or otherwise the judge will not grant time simply when requested by the advocate or the party. normal

three chance will be given to the advocate in the matter of right

want to take instructions, will take instructions on the issue, advocate on records is on his leg before before senior court, brief is missing in the office, the brief is handed over by the client to another advocate are some of the genuine reasons for taking  adjournments.
