My friend had just got engagement ceremony with qualified girl .After 5 days of engagement they came to know the family and girl is not suitable for him .
Now they want to break engagement .Is there any law to be follow ?
Is any legal action may be taken by girls family against boys family .
Will they register any false complaint against boys family?
There is not dowry demanded by boys family and they don’t have any evidence for it .
Kindly suggest how to proceed

1)inform the girl parents that you want to brek the engagement
2) retrun the gifts received from the girl side
3) offer to bear the expenses incurred by girl parents on the engagement .
4)they can file case of cheating against you . in addition they can file suit for damages as you had promised to marry the girl and have backed out .

Does they file false police complaint without any evidence to harass my friends family and Can police arrest them on the basis of false complaint?

Arrest doesnot seem 2 be so early in such cases.
