British Indian Army gratification/pension to their legal heirs.

I have read one book whereby I found that the person had served in British Indian army from 1943-1946 posted in Rangoon(Myanmar) ,Delhi,Allahabad,Katni(Madhya Pradesh).
But was voluntary resigned from the army due to deteriorating health as per doctor advice.

His family had hardly any record with regard to his army service. He doesn't get any compensation neither any gratification.

Whether his legal heirs shall be entitled to any gratification from army?

How are you effected?

what the family or the resigned soldier (who is not eilible for pension) did throughout the period of 3/4 century.
