Change in flat number

Hi recently purchased a flat and after registration we found that there is another flat in the building with a same flat number. Is there any procedure to change the flat number in the address and if so what is the cost?

please chk with builder and clarify now itself,u have not informed whether u have got possession letter from the builder, and if had clearly mentioned u flat number and if had handed over the keys based on the letter, then u can contest now itself,in case u have gone for a loan, it will a problem in future. if u have not the possession letter from the builder do nowitself.

Thanks Raghavan. Yes I not only have a possession letter I also have got the keys. It a mistake from the builders side and as far as the loan is considered the disbursement has also happened. We have also done the registration of the flat now we are in a situation where two flat have same address.

In which State is your property? Has anything like a Co-operative Society or an Owner's Association been formed? Are both the flats on the same floor? Are they of the same carpet area?  Who is the owner of the other flat with the same number? Have you talked to him? Apart from the flat No. there will be other descripttions of the flat. Are the descripttions also identical and factual?
