you are not landinginto any trouble.  Only affect will be that after conversion to christianity the reservation benefit will not be further available for promotion. You present recruitment, if under SC quota is perfect because you are SC at the timeof joining.

Tell your head of deptt :-

  • What happens to the employment of those SC whose case is denotified after their joining.
  • Which rule exactly is there which forbid on SC employee to change his religion.
  • What happens to those SC employee who opts (without change of religion) not to availed further reservation.
  • Whether your change of religion will operate retrospectively.

All that I know is that

1.      you have right to change religion

2.      this right is not given by deptt rather of Pat.III of the constitution

3.      after change of religion you are no more entitled for any reservation in promotion.

You head of deptt is perhaps suffering from religious bias.

Things  would be different if you change nationality.

Thins would be different if one converts to Hinduism and irrationally claim SC/status.

Reservation is a concession and not a liability which you must carry throughout service.
