Child marriage - is it void automatically?

A muslim woman was married off at the age of 12 and her husband passed away when she was 22 years old. No kids. Is this marriage valid legally? She doesn't have a copy of the death certificate with her and her former in-laws have cut the relationship completely. If she wants to remarry someone else, how does she proceed? What other documents could prove that she is a widow? Please advise.

A child marriage, though illegal, is not void. However, in the facts stated, the marriage is no longer subsisting and does not exist in the eyes of the Law.
