Claim for damages for trespassing

Is it possible to claim monetary damages when someone trespasses into your property.

Normally praying for cost of suit is meaningless since in most cases court does not award costs and even if they do the cost are not proportional.  So prayer for cost is ridiculous.

How much can one calim in damages?

What type of cost justification is required by law? Is there an upper bound?

I was wondering if Tort law is applicable.

Can we claim some type of opportunity cost in term of lost revenue given the long nature of litigation.
