Closing fir

I have registered a complain FIR about 2 years back for a  chain snatching incident. Till now the culprits haven't been nabbed by the police. Recently , a police official visited our premises stating that since no accussed has been nabbed in between these years, we need to shut the FIR and need to report the matter to the nearby court's jurisdiction. Surprisingly, this person wants us to be accompanied to the court for the same.

Frankly, I haven't got any notice from the court on the shutting of the case or FIR. I need to know the legal procedure for the same asap as I can smell something is fishy here.
