Concern of a female govt servant

Dear Sir,

I wish to know the rule about the working hours of Govt offices specially for women officers. Can any female officer be forced to work beyong office hours(10 am to 5.30pm) in Govt offices(not in emergency deptt like police etc),in a regular way?If yes, should not there be a written order by the immediate authority to that effect?Further, what arrangement should be made by the authority regarding her security while returning from the office late at night from work?

Further,If,citing false emergency reason, female employee in Govt office, be forced to work beyong office hours almost everyday by the authority, wont it amount to mental torture?

Kindly advise,

The Bombay High Court observed that the onus of ensuring the safety of women who work on late night shifts lies with the companies, and proper means should be adopted to do ensure that women are safe.Similarly govt. departments also must follow this order.

Normally the rule book prescribed by the said Govt may be referred for more details on the working hours and related issues. the same will give clarity on various aspects.
